Yahirotei’s gomoku monja comes with the fun of choosing toppings to suit your taste. One diner added Baby Star noodles, mentaiko and cheese, and you can pick your own combination while imagining how each topping might change the texture and flavour.
The okonomiyaki selection includes gomoku-ten and pork-ten, as well as options with fresh squid, clams or scallops. Diners have described the pancakes as fluffy and praised their generous fillings. Some have ordered meat and seafood cooked on the hotplate alongside monja and okonomiyaki. Add a wakame seaweed salad—or one of the salads that diners have found surprisingly generous—and there is plenty of choice in how to put together a meal.
Some diners say the staff gently showed them how to cook the dishes, which may help make ordering more enjoyable if you are new to hotplate cooking. Beer, highballs and other alcoholic drinks appear on the menu, and reservations are accepted.
